Artificial Intelligence

You must know what will be our digitized future. Read this!

What kind of future do you think we are building?

According to Michio Kaku, an American theoretical physicist, futurist and popularizer of science, « future is about the digitization of life ».

Before reading what follows, it is useful to know that « Digitization is the cause of large-scale and sweeping transformations across multiple aspects of business, providing unparalleled opportunities for value creation and capture, as well as being a source of major risk », according to Jim Hagemann Snabe.

Let’s go for a quick sum up of some of the futurist aspects we will see in the digitized future.

1. How will we use the Internet?

The word « computer » will disappear from the English Language. In the future, no more physical computer would be needed! A virtual artificial intelligence will help us know everything whenever we need it: information will be everywhere and nowhere at the same time!

That will lead to several changes in the society: for example, education! College students will be the first to own connected contact lenses, that will instantly give them all the information they need! Therefore our teachers won’t be able to use memorization to teach anymore, but will have to create new concepts and principles.

2. How will we buy products?

3D printers will enable personal manufacturing that will rethink product distribution and establish a new manufacturing world, as Daniel Newman writes.

First, Imagine! We could be able to design all of our wishes: shoes, jewelry, toys… at our own house. We won’t think anymore that we need to go to a certain place to get it. We will be your own goods producer!

Then, guess how much the industry will be impacted! 3D Printers will allow companies to innovate, produce less risky prototypes and be able to offer to consumers a real personalized product. How long will it take to receive in days or hours a customized product at our homes? Earlier than expected…

3. How will we use virtual in reality?

We have today 3 different devices to go on the Internet: computers, tablets and mobiles. They all do the same except they are screens from different sizes. Expect your 3 devices to become only one, a virtual one: in the future, we will all have cyber-paper. From our cellphone, we will scroll out as much paper as we want, type on it and put it back in our cellphone. For instance, expect to be able to talk to the wall and book instantly a meeting with a « robodoc ». Everything will be easier and faster.

4. How we experience augmented reality.

Augmented reality is a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user’s view of the real world, thus providing a composite view.

From translating your relative’s talk into a language you know to telling you instantly who a person you see is, we will always find help in the future. Then, our glasses or our lenses will tell us « it’s Jim, you were in High School with him and here is what he does to do » or « I can see you did not get what he said. Listen to the translation now! »

5. How will we drive cars?

Futurist cars will arrive sooner than we expect it to. By 2020, autonomous cars will be on our roads. In the end the aim is to build robots that will drive us anywhere, by flying or not. We will talk to it, argue with it about the itinerary, ask your car to park… Once cars will become robots, it will reduce the accidents rate, the insurance costs… A whole new world, which is still far from perfect : « So far in 2018, autonomous vehicles played a role in six accidents on state roads. »

6. How long will it take to travel?

You can’t imagine to go from Manhattan to Shanghai in only 2 hours today. Well, soon it will be totally normal! The NASA is working on a supersonic transportation project that will lead us to make a world tour within a very short time!
